I am my
culture.
The Visual arts, as the tribal form of rites, are enmeshed within the
fiber of my African village life. I create ritual works of art in which
the ancestors’ spirit can find abode, while granting favors.
As a contemporary African artist living in a world of conceptual energy,
I continue to believe in the vital force of the ancestor spirit operating
beyond space, time and expressions.
The visual arts, its images, mediums, techniques and genre expose and
express the process and profoundness of my tribal rites and share them
with non-initiates, in galleries and museums. My art, in such places,
becomes today’s Sacred sites of my African ancestry. The purpose
of my creativity is fulfilled in the ability of expression through spirit,
mind and body. Thoughts, words, deeds, all things, when done with creativity,
are true works of art.
“A picture is worth a thousand words”, and I endeavor to
create an encyclopedia, and CD Roms, of fine works of art, for myself,
and the world-at-large.
As a visual artist, I am a better person for having this wonderful skill
of creativity in my life.
My experiences in the Visual Arts provide me with problem-solving skills,
which I use effectively in my daily life.
